The Benefits Of A Positive Attitude

By: Ab van Deemter

Two people look at a glass which is half filled with water.
Are you the person who sees a glass that is half empty or do you see a glass that is half full?

We have a lot of choices in life. We can choose to look at things the negative way and always see the dark side of situations, or we can choose to be positive and live a happy and fulfilling life.

Why is it so important to live a positive and optimistic life?

Of course it is important to live a positive life, because it is so much more fulfilling. Optimism is synonymous with positive mood and good morale. It is also linked to athletic and academic success, to success in career and politics, to better health and longer life and moreover positive individuals are much more attractive to people than negative people are.

Now, I hear you thinking. The rates of depression and pessimism amongst people have never been higher than they are today, no matter the age group. These days it is affecting older, middle aged and younger people all the same way.

Although it is not the easiest thing in the world to change in our life, it is important to realize that being a pessimist instead of an optimist is a matter of choice. We can choose to be positive or negative.

So, experience how the self motivation tips hereunder are the key to change. Do some self motivation exercise so that after a while you acquire the necessary self motivation skills in positive thinking.

Knowing the Law of Attraction, Understanding Cause and Effect and changing our lives for the better

By: Victoria Welch

If we understand Cause and Effect, can we change the Cause and change the Effect on our lives for the better?

For every effect in your life, there is a cause, or series of specific, measurable, definable, identifiable causes.

We all know someone who is a Law of Attraction intention manifest master, someone who, seemingly understands the Law of Attraction success principles and with ease appears to have everything they want, usually people who we've thought, much more fortunate than we were.

The Secret Law of Attraction Guide before, "we attract to our life what we give our focus, energy and attention to".

So are these people deliberately attracting a better lifestyle or not?

For those of us who have applied our attention, energy and focus on without, we are still using Cause and Effect, it's just that our attention has been focused in the wrong direction.

This Law says that if there is anything you want in life, an effect that you desire, you can find someone else that has achieved the same result or effect, and that by doing the same things that they have done, over and over you can eventually enjoy the same results and rewards.

However, Cause and Effect cuts in both ways. It also says that if there is an unwanted effect in your life, whether it's no money, bad relationships, unsatisfying career, or any other difficulty, you can trace that effect back to the things that you have done to cause it and that by removing the causes you can begin to remove the effects, sometimes as quickly as overnight.

From this moment on, using Cause and Effect to attract abundance and prosperity, will be down to your knowledge, not be down to luck.

Why Are You Not The Success You Want To Be?

By: Zach Kong

Just sometime ago, my mentor asked me the exact same question, Why are you not the success you want to be?

Well, you can imagine the look on my face. The question just caught me off guard while I was having lunch with him.

Well, I think it s because I am not focus enough and not taking the correct actions? , I answered in guilt.

No, no. From what I can see, you re laser focused and is taking massive actions. So why are you still not obtaining the success you desire to have?

At that time I was confused. Totally confused. So what was my mentor driving at? After pondering over the question for some time, I slowly shook my head to signal to him my ignorance and embrace myself for a valuable lesson.

During our lunch time, he went into a lengthy explanation that we are in fact the successes that we want to be. Just that, we often put our foresight too far in front of us that we fail to see what s just in front of us.

Now is the accepted time, not tomorrow, not some more convenient season.
It is today that our best work can be done and not some future day or future year.
It is today that we fit ourselves for the greater usefulness of tomorrow.
Today is the seed time, now are the hours of work, and tomorrow comes the harvest and the playtime.
~~ W.E.B. Du Bois ~~

We re in fact successes in accordance to our values. Like any other people, including successful entrepreneurs, we all have within us a value system.

Cosmic Ordering - A Quantum Leap

By: G. Symond

Cosmic Ordering has been around for quite some time now and much scepticism still surrounds it. What often surprises those who dig a little deeper though, is the increasing amount of evidence that supports the possibility that our thoughts really are creative. That in some way we are able to influence and manifest things using the power of our intentions and thoughts.

The amount of celebrity interest around the subject of cosmic ordering has been high. This has been good in one sense as it has brought cosmic ordering to the attention of millions. The downside has, however, been that an awful lot of hype has rather hijacked the original concepts and trivialised the fundamental nature of Cosmic Ordering.

We live at a unique time in history where the boundaries of scientific research are pushing forward into the very substance of the universe. Nowhere are the discoveries more profound or more mysterious than in the field of quantum physics. Science is revealing discoveries that turn the way we look at the world upside down. Spirituality and the power of our thoughts in the Universe are finding common ground with this research and shaking the very foundations of everything we once believed we knew about the world and our place in it.

Absolute Abundance is Your Potential!

By: Margo Knox

Abundance

If you focus on one idea continuously, it will manifest, so why not dare to dream of and reach for your highest potential?

You may make many excuses because you fear failure. However you will only fail if you are unwilling to take a chance and reach out into the unknown. Are you willing to try a new way? Are you willing to put some new ideas and concepts to the test?

Anything you can visualize, you can realize because you have the power.

You are a co creator with the directive to create in the name of the Universe. Allow yourself to be co-partnered and assisted to become that which you so desire: a living, breathing, masterful envoy of the highest order?

Seek that which is your passion and that which brings you the greatest satisfaction and joy; maybe you do not have the slightest idea what that is, you can start by eliminating those things that are stressful in your life, those things that bring you pain and which you dread.

You did not become the way you are in a short time but you can transform back into your empowered masterful self quite quickly, more so than you imagine. It is necessary to use the many tools and information on offer.

However you must make a commitment and prove for yourself that these offerings are the "magical tools" you have been seeking.

These concepts or knowledge must then be integrated or turned into wisdom or you must come to the realization that something is true and achievable. Realization is when something becomes crystal clear in your mind and then you must put that truth into action.

Law Of Attraction: The Effect Of Positive Thinking

By: Chang Wee Teo

We each have our own internal voice, which is shaped in how we listen, talk and have been programmed by early learning experiences, all these occurrences shape our inner voice which in turn influences the way we think, what we are open to believing, and our actions. Therefore, what we send out to the universe is what is returned to us, in accordance to the law of attraction.

The power of positive thinking is something that comes natural for some, for others it is something to be learned. Nevertheless, we can change our inner voice, if we put our mind and heart to the task, we can shape our inner voice with positive thinking and positive actions. When applying positive thinking in relationship to the law of attraction, the results are positive manifestations of our will.

Positive thinking is a lifetime commitment of making your dreams come true by being honest, courteous, kind and up beat with yourself and others. We learn positive thinking by controlling our thoughts, and actively pushing the negative thoughts out of our minds with the tools of positive thinking. Once we start using the power of positive thinking, we must keep our mind attentive of what is important to us, while keeping sight of our purpose and main concerns in our thoughts and deeds. Once positive energy is activated naturally, the law of attraction kicks in mode to bring into your life the results of your practice of positive thinking.

Being able to visualize what actions we need to take, and then putting them into practice in our every day life, will enable us to work out our approach when dealing with any problem that might come our way. Controlled positive thinking can aid us in relaxing within ourselves, which in turn enables us to enjoy the success that we achieve through the law of attraction.

Symptoms Of Low Self Esteem

By: Connie Limon

People with low self-esteem often do not live their life to the fullest. They feel so down on themselves they distance themselves from others. People need to be close to others for love and support.

People suffering from low self-esteem have a difficult time making full use of their abilities. They spend a lot of time feeling low and down about the injustices of their lives. Such people are a loss to their families and society. Some of them even take to crime, alcohol and drugs. They are uncomfortable with success and tend to believe they don t deserve success. They may blame themselves if things go wrong, and often take a sadistic pleasure in telling everyone else that they knew things would go wrong. This is an important symptom of low self-esteem, and one that needs to be treated at the earliest.

Another symptom of low self-esteem is putting oneself down. A person with low self esteem repeatedly tell themselves that they are not good enough and they are destined to fail at anything they attempt doing. Eventually this type of negative self-talk turns into a negative self-belief. More than this are they try and implant seeds of negativity in people around them. They also seek out others who suffer from similar problems, sort of like, misery loves company. The end result of these types of relationships is that they feed on each other s negativity, and become much poorer individuals than they initially were.

Better Relationships: Ten Top Tips

By: Tom Dane

We all want to get along better with others. Sometimes it just feels so damn awkward with certain people though! Wouldn't it be great if we knew simple principles that enabled us to experience more satisfying relationships.

The following Top Ten Tips offer you some simple advice that you can begin to apply right now.

1. Remember that however unreasonable someone is acting their behaviour is derived from a positive intention. When you 'act as if' all behaviour has a positive intention behind it, through discovering it, your life will become more pleasant. An example: You meet an angry person and you think how childish and silly they are. But if you were to ask yourself, "what is the positive intention behind this persons angry behaviour?", you could come up with something useful that allows you to feel more comfortable. For instance people often act angry because behind this they believe it will protect them from harm.

2. When you find yourself feeling uncomfortable in an interaction 'get some perspective' by disassociating. In your minds eye see yourself and the other person interacting over there, rather like you would if you were to see a movie of the situation.

3. Step into their shoes. This is one of the most powerful methods for gaining wisdom about your relationships. To begin you imagine communicating with the other person, noticing how they talk, observe their facial expressions and so on. You then 'step into their shoes' and see through their eyes and hear through their ears. So of course you will be looking at yourself! Run through a conversation you've had before that could of been better. Notice 'yourself' and become aware of how seeing things from this other persons perspective gives you knew insights into the relationship. This method is described in more detail in my free mini-course.

Does The Law Of Attraction Work?

By: Sa'Diyya Patel

Does The Law Of Attraction Really Work?

You've watched The Secret, read the book, and been inspired to make some change in your life. Perhaps you've started visualizing, saying affirmations and created a dream board. But nothing seems to be happening. Why isn't it working? Does the Law Of Attraction really work or is it just another hype-filled quick-fix that produce no real results in the real world.

The Law Of Attraction, like all Universal Laws, works 100% of the time...no exceptions. One of the hardest concepts to accept about the law of attraction is the concept of personal accountability and accepting 100% responsibility for ALL aspects of your life. Whatever you have in your life right now, you have attracted by virtue of your thoughts.

99% of people who hear this will immediately say "But I don't want an abusive spouse, or all this debt or this health problem or whatever. And don't tell me that I brought this on myself. Why would I do that?" And then they conclude that The Law of Attraction doesn't work or is utter rubbish.

Perhaps you've felt this way too. You're going through all the motions but the results just aren't showing up. Why? You're stuck right where you are....or worse yet, you may be attracting what you don't want. It can be painful and frustrating to live a life that is so different from the one you really want. So you're stuck asking "Does The Law of Attraction Work?"

YES, The Law of Attraction does work. So what's wrong? Why aren't you manifesting the life of your dreams?

The Secret to Remaining Calm No Matter What is Going On Around You

By: Wil Dieck

Everyday we are bombarded with things that make us want to explode. We wake up to find our spouse has left a mess in the bathroom, or the kids are fighting in their bedroom. We break up the kids or clean the bathroom, dress, grab a cup of coffee and quickly run out the door, only to be cut off on the freeway by some jerk that gives us a one-finger wave when we politely beep at him. We get to the office only to be greeted by whiney employees and our boss who tells us the report we spent six hours on yesterday isn't complete and she needs it in an hour. And its only 9 AM! So what's the secret to staying cool, calm and composed while maintaining our self esteem in a tough environment? Here are a few tips to think about as a starter guide to self improvement.

There is a type of crab that exhibit a rather interesting behavior. To catch these crabs, crabbers put pieces of dead fish in a crab cage and then lower it down into the water to the sea bottom. What happens next is very interesting. One crab will enter the cage and start to eat the fish, soon followed by another, and then another and then another until the cage is teeming with crabs and all the fish is gone. What's interesting is the crabs will continue to linger in the crab cage, even though the food is gone. If a poor crab decides that he's tired of this and starts to climb out of the cage the other crabs will grab him and pull him back down. In fact, they will rip him apart if he doesn't stay put. After a while the crabbers come along and pull up the cage so no crab escapes alive.

Does this sound familiar? In life it can seem like everything and everyone else around you is pulling you down, preventing you from climbing higher than where you are at. These crabs will destroy your confidence and self esteem, pulling you down in ways you won't even remember. Don't let these crabs destroy your confidence, or get the best of you. So how do you avoid these crab cages?

How to Eliminate Stress

By: Duke Xenner

What is it? Stress is tension. When you are stressed, your body tenses up, you are less relaxed, you are more irritable, more critical, less creative, less productive, more overwhelmed, and your over-all lowered state of health. Mental, emotional and physical health.

It is the single thing that is extraordinarily simple to change, but plays all the difference in your life. Most people have a unique set of causes for stress, but from my experience living in a high-stress environment, there are certain things that I've found to be most helpful.

In no particular order, here are some of the best ways to get rid of stress:

1. Physical Activity (No less than 30 minutes moderate or 15 minutes intense)

- The more stressed you are, the more active you should be every day

2. Listen to some high-energy music (for me, party music and metal work the best)

3. Listen to some relaxing sounds (slow music or natural sounds like wind or waves)

4. Take up a hobby (anything you enjoy doing, hopefully constructive)

5. Have a goal to work toward

- Direction in your life helps you clear up most turmoil and handle anything that comes your way with greater ease

- Anything you encounter is either for or against your efforts toward that goal

How To Defeat Procrastination In 9 Easy Steps

By: Amy Jones

When it comes to seeking success and achieving wealth, procrastination is one of the biggest enemies that hinders the financial, personal, and mental development of an individual.

Coupled with laziness and a lack of motivation, procrastination has the power to crush dreams and hold one back from accomplishing the goals they have set for themselves.

While procrastination is quite common, there are plenty of ways to get back on track and embrace the things that can lead to success, wealth, and prosperity.

At some point in everyone's life, procrastination strikes. It could be as simple as waiting until the very last minute to take the garbage out or as serious as putting off an important medical checkup. The more of a habit that procrastination becomes in life, the harder it is to achieve success in the things you wish to accomplish. One of the first steps towards overcoming procrastination is to envision the desired level of achievement and plan a course of action that brings you closer to set goals.

Give Yourself A Potential Makeover

By : Gary Vurnum

Unfulfilled potential.

We all have it.

It's like a little chip on our shoulder reminding us -
"You can do better"
"You can make more of yourself"

But...we know that being the top salesman, fast-track manager, or best-selling author is far, far out of our reach.

Or is it?

Why do you think it is? Can you PROVE that you haven't got the necessary talent or credentials for the job?

You're probably more qualified than them as well, aren't you?

So - what's stopping you from seeing your true potential?

Well...in most cases three words are responsible :
"Fear of failure"

It's nothing to be ashamed of - at the moment I KNOW that I am subconsciously limiting myself because I KNOW that I am not succeeding to my true potential.

The difference is - because I am aware of it - I can force myself to do something about it.

I'm as human as you are.

So - even as I write this - I am working hard to push down those thoughts that say:
"What if it goes wrong?"
"What if I lose money?"
"But...I'm not worthy" etc etc

Even the greatest successes in the world share my thoughts - so I know that I'm not alone.

And neither are you, too.

How to Attract Love Through Affirmations

By: Jeff Staniforth

Love is that ethereal experience that makes us feel completely alive. Where every sense is heightened, every emotion is magnified, our everyday reality is transcended, and life seems worthwhile. Love is the ultimate nourishment of the soul.

It is said that the entire array of human needs is rooted in our need for love. Our yearning for fame, fortune and material things all boil down to our need to be acknowledged, respected, admired - and above all, loved.
No truer words have been said than those that George Sand wrote: "There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved."

The good news is, you can develop the skill to live a full and joyful life, enhanced by love -- and experience all the profound manifestations that love brings. Employing positive, loving affirmations will help you develop that skill.

How To Bore Your Way To Success

By: Gary Vurnum

OK. I'll admit it. I'm passionate about success. I think about it every day. I think about it as I drift off to sleep. I think about it when I catch myself being idle for five minutes. I can't help it. It's my drug. And - everywhere I look...I find what I'm looking for! I see things now that I used to miss before. I pick up those little clues that I can use to my advantage.

The clues are there - if you look hard enough. Do you remember when you were a love-struck teenager? How the 'love of your life' consumed every waking moment, and totally destroyed your relationships with your friends who quickly took second place to 'the one'? Well...I'm like that. Except that I've managed to control my 'urges' to make sure that I play an active role in my family's upbringing.

At the ripe old age of 32 I'd rather read a book than go out for a drink! Why? I choose to do so because I know that unless I constantly search for the clues to success - I won't find them. So - out with novels. In with biographies and non-fiction! If there was a "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" solely on success and personal development - I'd win it! But...what's this got to do with you, I bet you're wondering. EVERYTHING!

You see - you don't have to turn into a 'success bore' like me to find out a path that works for you. You just have to find a subject that you are really passionate about - and then become a 'bore' in that!

The Key to a Better Life

By: Fadzil Dolmani

Time management is basically about being focused. The Pareto Principle also known as the '80:20 Rule' states that 80% of efforts that are not time managed or unfocused generates only 20% of the desired output. However, 80% of the desired output can be generated using only 20% of a well time managed effort. Although the ratio '80:20' is only arbitrary, it is used to put emphasis on how much is lost or how much can be gained with time management.

Some people view time management as a list of rules that involves scheduling of appointments, goal settings, thorough planning, creating things to do lists and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.

But there is more skills involved in time management than the core basics. Skills such as decision making, inherent abilities such as emotional intelligence and critical thinking are also essential to your personal growth.

Personal time management involves everything you do. No matter how big and no matter how small, everything counts. Each new knowledge you acquire, each new advice you consider, each new skill you develop should be taken into consideration.

"Why Do Some Affirmations *Work* - and Others Don't?"

By: Jeff Staniforth

By definition, an affirmation is a statement repeated time and again either verbally or mentally -- or written down. The words of the affirmation statement - in themselves -when spoken, thought of, or written *without* a pictorial (visualized) or emotional connection -- make a very weak affirmation.
Affirmations, when worded correctly -- and when emotionally charged - are able to tap into the unlimited creative power of your subconscious mind, and manifest your desires.

Affirmations are not all created equal. Some are, of course, better than others. There are *power affirmations* that have been proven again and again to work - and I'll reveal some of them in a moment.
When you examine the structure of these power affirmations, you, too, can learn how to create your own powerful affirmations for your specific purposes.

Consider the following:
"I am what I choose to be."
"All my needs are met instantaneously."
"I love and accept myself exactly as I am."
"_____________ comes to me easily and effortlessly."
(Fill in the blank with what you desire.)
"I am now perfectly healthy in body, mind and spirit."
"I now create my wonderful, ideal life."

How Do You Measure Your Achievements?

By: Gary Vurnum

"My most brilliant achievement was my ability to be able to persuade my wife to marry me."

This quote isn't one of my own - although I would like to echo its sentiments.
It was the great Winston Churchill who said it. A man who lead the Allies to victory in the Second World War.

A man who became one of Britain's most-loved heroes.
Yet - even though he achieved more in his life than you or I could possibly imagine - he certainly knew what was the most important part of his life.
It's easy to measure your achievements by the material things you have, or by how much money you earn.

It's much harder to put a value on those things that are vitally important for a happy and successful life:
- A good relationship with your spouse
- Happy, 'balanced' children
- Your health
- Somewhere to live

"A Better You" Your 7 Days Program To Self-Improvement

By: Fadzil Dolmani

I seem to lose count on how many times I've read and heard of celebrity marriages failing almost left and right. Not that I care (and personally I don't), it seems strange that we often see movie and TV stars as flawless people, living the fairytale life of riches and glamour. I suppose we all have to stop sticking our heads in the clouds and face reality.

There are many ways to lose your sense of self-esteem despite of how trivial it could get. But whatever happens, we should all try not to lose our own sense of self.

So what does it take to be a cut above the rest? Here are some of the things you can think and improve on that should be enough for a week.

1. Know your purpose
Are you wandering through life with little direction - hoping that you'll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth north every time.

This may seem tricky at first when you see yourself to be in a tight or even dead end. But there's always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to yourself.

Unlock Your Self Improvement Power

By: Fadzil Dolmani

When we look at a certain object, a painting for example – we won’t be able to appreciate what’s in it, what is painted and what else goes with it if the painting is just an inch away from our face. But if we try to take it a little further, we’ll have a clearer vision of the whole art work.

We reach a point in our life when we are ready for change and a whole bunch of information that will help us unlock our self improvement power. Until then, something can be staring us right under our nose but we don’t see it. The only time we think of unlocking our self improvement power is when everything got worst. Take the frog principle for example –

Try placing Frog A in a pot of boiling water. What happens? He twerps! He jumps off! Why? Because he is not able to tolerate sudden change in his environment – the water temperature. Then try Frog B: place him in a lukewarm water, then turn the gas stove on. Wait until the water reaches a certain boiling point. Frog B then thinks “Ooh… it’s a bit warm in here”.

People are like Frog B in general. Today, Anna thinks Carl hates her. Tomorrow, Patrick walks up to her and told her he hates her. Anna stays the same and doesn’t mind what her friends says. The next day, she learned that Kim and John also abhors her. Anna doesn’t realize at once the importance and the need for self improvement until the entire community hates her.

Creating Effective and Efficient Relationships

By: Fadzil Dolmani

Relationships of all kinds are often perceived as very delicate things, that require extra effort to maintain. However, a relationship can also be something that can provide security and can also be long lasting despite many trials.

Building an effective and lasting relationships is a necessity for several reasons. For example in a group or organization, the well being of the people depends on how efficient and effective that group or organization works.

The group or organization is also dependent on how the members work well with the management.

An ineffective group or organization can really be very frustrating. An effective group or organization can also ask so much on their members, that sometimes the members would be having no life outside the walls of the area where they work or sacrifice the other aspects of their life just to meet deadlines. For an organization or group with this kind of scenario, relationships can be stressed or suffer from breakdown.

People or other entities who depend on these groups or organization also suffer.

Society is defined as a web of relationships, which requires all parties to work and contribute their share in order to achieve a common goal. Having a relationship that is good, where cooperation and respect are manifested, can make society work better. In this way each member works for the good of the whole and towards achieving a common goal. This can only be attained with effective and efficient relationships.

By: Fadzil Dolmani

Have you come across a person who is so naturally friendly that when you put him inside a room of strangers, he'll be friends with almost everyone in no time? We call such a people-person, someone unbelievably nice and charismatic that he can charm anyone into doing anything.

A socially-empowered person achieves so much greatness, basically because of the people that catapult him to success. He earns the trust and all-out support of the people, whom he had helped before. He never runs out of help. He can do anything with the plethora of people behind him. All because he knows he maximizes his social potential!

See, if you know your social skills and you make use of them, you will reach self-empowerment. Self-empowerment is making a general overhaul in your life and turning yourself into a happier and more successful person. If you can be one of those people-persons, then I can't see any reason why you will not succeed. You just have to know how to start.

1. Be genuine.

Hypocrisy will just bring you all the way down. Be genuinely nice and interested to people. Once they perceive that you are Mr. Hypocrite with selfish intentions, you might as well say goodbye to self-empowerment.

The Powers Of A Positive Attitude

By: Fadzil Dolmani

I am going to ask you to something very weird right now. First of all, I want you to listen to your thoughts. Now tell me, what thoughts fill your head? Would you label them as positive, or negative? Now let's say you are walking down the street with these thoughts. Do you think anyone who would meet you would be able to tell you what’s on your mind? The answer to number one is up to you. But, the answer number two can be pretty generic. Although people will not be able to tell you exactly what you think, they will more or less have an idea of how you are feeling.

Here's another question. When you enter a party filled with friends, do they all fall silent as if something terrible had happened? Or does everybody there perk up as if waiting for something exciting to happen? You know what? The answer to all these depends on your frame of mind. Thoughts are very powerful. They affect your general attitude. The attitude you carry reflects on your appearance, too – unless, of course, you are a great actor. And it doesn't end there. Your attitude can also affect people around you. The type of attitude you carry depends on you. It can be either positive or negative.

Positive thoughts have a filling effect. They are admittedly invigorating. Plus, the people around the person carrying positive thoughts are usually energized by this type of attitude. Negative thoughts on the other hand have a sapping effect on other people. Aside from making you look gloomy and sad, negative thoughts can turn a festive gathering into a funeral wake. A positive attitude attracts people, while a negative attitude repels them. People tend to shy away from those who carry a negative attitude.

We can also define attitude as the way of looking at the world. If you choose to focus on the negative things in the world, more or less you have a negative attitude brewing up. However, if you choose to focus on the positive things, you are more likely carry a positive attitude. You have much to gain from a very positive attitude. For one, studies have shown that a positive attitude promotes better health. Those with this kind of attitude also have more friends. Projecting a positive attitude also helps one to handle stress and problems better than those who have a negative attitude.

Why Is It Important To Improve Your Self ?

By: Tim Maher

Sometimes, when all our doubts, fears and insecurities wrap ourselves up, we always come up with the idea of "I wish I was somebody else." More often than not, we think and believe that someone or rather, most people are better than us.- when in reality, the fact is, most people are more scared than us.

You spot a totally eye-catching girl sitting by herself at a party, casually sipping on a glass of Asti Spumanti. You think to yourself, "she looks so perfectly calm and confident." But if you could read through her transparent mind, you would see a bunch of clouds of thoughts and you might just be amazed that she's thinking "are people talking about why I am seated here alone?... Why don't guys find me attractive? I don't like my ankles, they look too skinny I wish I was as intelligent as my best friend."

We look at a young business entrepreneur and say "Wooh what else could he ask for?" He stares at himself in the mirror and murmurs to himself, "I hate my big eyes I wonder why my friends won't talk to me I hope mom and dad would still work things out."

Isn't it funny? We look at other people, envy them for looking so outrageously perfect and wish we could trade places with them, while they look at us and think of the same thing. We are insecure of other people who themselves are insecure of us. We suffer from low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence and lose hope in self improvement because we are enveloped in quiet desperation. [Read full article]

What Makes All the Difference? MONEY!

By: Lynn Moore

If your goal is to amass more money, good on ya! Go for it. You have a right to be rich.

How do you feel about shouting that goal to the stars? Do some people tell you that you are too materialistic or that your goal should be more lofty such as serving others or more 'realistic' by asking for less? That you only 'need' $50,000 a year to live on and asking for a $1,000,000 is greedy?

The bare bones, unvarnished truth is the wheels of this world are turned by commerce. And the medium of trade is money. Without it we are back to paying the doctor with a chicken, growing and preserving all our own food, having the livestock vet or the blacksmith yank out your aching tooth and making mattresses out of tree boughs!

No thank you, I like my creature comforts.

Let's take a literal look at money. It's simply a coin forged of metal or a piece of colourful paper. If you gave a $1,000 bill to a native in the deepest, most isolated part of the Amazon jungle what do you think he would do with it? Of course it would be of little or no value except to maybe help him start his fire.

So it isn't money per sae, it's the connotation we put on it. You don't really want money, you want what it will purchase and supply in your life. You want what it will allow you to do. [Read full article]

Mastering Motivation (lessons In Creating Forever Change)

By: Craig Harper

Motivation (a few definitions):
(1) A psychological concept with no single universally accepted definition, but which organisational sociologists believe concerns the determinants of intent, effort and tenacity, factors that push or pull us as individuals to behave in a particular manner.

(2) Feelings that drive someone toward a particular objective.

(3) The push of the mental forces to accomplish an action. Unsatisfied needs motivate. On the biological level basic human needs of food, shelter and survival are powerful motivators. On the psychological level people need to be understood, affirmed, validated and appreciated. On the business level motivation occurs when people perceive a clear business reason for pursuing a transfer of knowledge or practices.

If you look up the word Motivation you'll find many contrasting, and almost contradictory definitions of what it is (I found over fifty in five minutes).
It seems that even those who define it aren't exactly sure what it is.
It is definitely (in my opinion anyway) the most over-used (and mis-understood) word on the personal development landscape.

We all kinda know what it is... but at the same time, we don't.
It seems that motivation is (represented by) different things for different people.

Excuse Me, Have We Met?

By: Michelle Simms

According to the Harvard Business Review (Feb, 2007), self-awareness has just been recognized as the most important capability for leaders to develop. I would add that this is a quality that is beneficial for anyone to develop. After all, we are all leaders somewhere in our lives aren't we? Emotions can play an important role in our careers, education, at home, in our community, and in all our relationships.

Ever find that you get upset easily or fairly regularly? Maybe you feel overwhelmed most of the time, stressed out, or even tired?

Remember the old joke, "Doc, my arm hurts when I move it like this. What should I do?" To which the good doctor quickly responds, Stop moving it like that." If your life, career, relationships... (fill in the blank) are not going the way you'd like...maybe it's time you took a hard look at "yourself" ... more specifically, your lack of self-awareness.

What is Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is knowing one's internal states, preferences, resources, and intuitions, allowing us to plan our actions and develop proactive behaviors. People with greater certainty about feelings are better pilots of their lives, having a surer sense of how they really feel about personal decisions from whom to marry to what job to take. Using Self Motivation Techniques To Keep Your Goals In Focus

By: Elaine Currie

No matter what goal you are aiming for, staying motivated is a challenge for everyone at times. Even though you have set those goals for yourself, it will be hard to stay focused at times. Using self motivation techniques is a great way to ensure that you stay positive and have the mental attitude needed to achieve your goals. One of the best things that you can do is to map out a plan detailing your goal and the steps that you will take to achieve your dreams. It is also a good idea to regularly reassess your plan and make sure that you still feel that your original strategy is the best one. There is nothing wrong with changing your plan if you feel that changes will improve it, the plan is not carved in stone and should always be considered as a flexible tool. Life is full of unexpected surprises and this can mean your initial steps will no longer lead you to where you want to arrive, you can change your written plan to take any surprise changes into account.

Making your written plan is the first step. After that, you might find that you still need sources of inspiration and encouragement. Self motivation techniques such as breaking your plan into small tasks that you can achieve daily will help give you a sense of accomplishment as each task is finished. This is a great technique and will help you avoid feeling overwhelmed or feeling that your goal is too hard for you to accomplish. Remember, the way to eat a whole elephant is one bite at a time. Make a written list of tasks for each day and cross them off one by one as you complete them. Each time you cross off a completed item, your spirits will get a boost that will encourage you to tack the next task on your list. [Read full article]

6 Dangerous Reasons People Do Not Set Goals And Never Succeed

By: Joshua Uebergang

Goal setting is the framework for personal achievement. It is the backbone of becoming a person you desire to be. Setting and achieving personal goals will guarantee you success. Most people who do set goals have little to no understanding of goal setting and as a result fail to achieve them and never succeed. You would think that if goal setting was the ultimate skill and secret to success that everyone would develop their own personal goals and learn to achieve them. Unfortunately, the world is not that perfect. There are six dangerous reasons people do not set and achieve their goals which act like a road block to their success.

There are several reasons why people do not set goals similarly to why people do not care about communicating effectively. I know with absolute certainty that everyone will experience a more successful and far enjoyable life if they learned to communicate effectively. Arguably the greatest modern day personal development Coach, Anthony Robbins said, "The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives." Effective communication determines the quality of your life with others while self development determines the quality of your inner life.

The first reason I believe why people do not set goals is they do not see its importance. Like people who do not develop their communication and other aspects of themselves, they do not see the importance of setting goals. I have met people who are unbelievably resistant to developing their communication. They have actually found it insulting to think they need to improve how they communicate! Every single person on the face of this Earth can always communicate more effectively and have their life improve as a result. Likewise, with goals there are people who do not see the importance of setting personal goals. Goal setting forms the foundations for personal achievement and it is of the utmost importance. Personal Development Tips Revealed: How To Accelerate Your Personal Growth

By: Kevin John

Are you spending a lot of time and money on personal growth and development books, videos, courses and seminars? Do you find that despite everything you've done, nothing seems to take root inside you, that you re just not moving forward fast enough? You need to find some way to accelerate your personal growth. Try these simple but powerful techniques

Personal development tip: Slow Down to Speed up

You may be trying to move too fast. Everyone has their own learning style which includes different ways and different speeds of learning.

Some of the marketing for personal growth and development material suggests that you can get instant benefits from the material. The techniques may be good, but you might be a person who needs a bit more time for what you are learning to truly sink in a take route.

You might also be trying to achieve too much perhaps you re cramming in so much stuff that you re mind is on overload.

Either way, a little patience may produce great rewards.

Focus is the key

Another problem I come across from time to time is that people skip from one course to the next, trying out meditation one day, affirmations the next, some mind programming tapes the next

Any good personal growth expert will tell you that focus is one of the keys to success. That s true in the area of personal development as well. You need to carefully pick the area you are going to work on and the way you re going to work on it. Stick with your chosen tool until you've achieved your objective. [Read full article]

Ten Attributes for an Effective Life

By: Raymond Gerson

INTRODUCTION

In the process of acquiring an education, we learn about many important subjects such as math, science, and history. I believe our educations should also present ideas that help us develop into the best human beings we can become. To fulfill our potential, we need values and attributes that enrich our lives and the lives of others. These qualities, the result of our inner development, will allow us to mature emotionally and spiritually.

This article contains my ideas regarding ten attributes for living an effective life. These traits will help you be more effective in school, work, relationships, and other areas of your life. Developing these ten attributes builds character, which serves as a springboard for dynamic action. Character is the foundation from which we can live effective lives.

BALANCE

We can live a balanced and fulfilling life by focusing on spiritual development as a top priority, and by devoting time to the other areas: physical, mental, career, financial, family, and social/recreational.

We can provide balance in our lives by maintaining our health and vitality; developing a clear mind and a positive mental attitude; discovering our talents and making a contribution in a meaningful career; meeting our financial needs and obligations; taking care of our responsi- bilities to family; taking time out for fun; and building meaningful friend-ships. Ten Words To Help Your Self Esteem

By: Robin OBrien

Acquiring self-esteem isn't easy. Most of us can start out with good intentions but then lose our way. We need simple guidelines, a catechism or a simple mantra show the way or give us something to fall back during hard times. To this end, I have put together ten steps that may help you gain the self-esteem you want so much.

The words self-esteem comprises ten letters. The first letter of each of the following step names spells out the words S-E-L-F E-S-T-E-E-M. This may seem a little conceited to some and, if this is so, I apologise. However, it is hoped that it will help as an 'aid memoir' to some.

Scrutiny

For some, this first step can be the hardest and most frightening of all. But before we can embark on change we must first examine ourselves; to take stock of where we are in life and our relationships. A few may even believe that close scrutiny of the inner self will lead to even lower self-esteem. This is true, if there is no plan or intention for change. Therefore one should only take the first step if there is a real desire for change.

Explanation

Having gathered the information we need to analyze it objectively. This often involves looking at our past to gain understanding of our present. What can't be changed can be more easily accepted or can be delegated as the responsibility of others. This does not mean that we apportion blame - no one is on trial. Rather, this analysis in an important step in the process of helping us to take more responsibility for our feelings, thoughts and actions. [Read full article]

How To Improve Self Confidence At Work?

By: CD Mohatta

Coworker problems, problems with the boss, less job satisfaction, no chance of promotion, insufficient salary, damaged self-esteem and so many other problems create work a pain for many of us. Some of us are very frustrated with our jobs and are always looking for a change in job. But this change in job may not always help. The other company may have different set of problems. What are the issues that trouble us at work? Let us talk more.

Skill-
Skill at whatever we do is the most important factor in any job. If you have lesser skill, you cannot compensate that with anything else. You will have to get more skill by joining some programs or changing your work profile. Get yourself tested again for your aptitude and decide if you wish to continue doing same work or change to any other. For example, you may be working as a content writer in a website company. If you think that you can do better with website design, shift to that. Find out your true skill and improve that everyday. This is the first key. [Read full article]

Why You Should Settle For Second Best

By: Robin OBrien

We all have our dreams and goals. Sometimes they are a long way out of sight and we know, deep inside, it's going to take a long time to get there. So perhaps it's best to settle for something that's less than perfect rather than struggling for something that may be unattainable?

The term 'settling for second best' has had a bad wrap of late. It implies failure: a weakness on one's part to achieve some aspiration. To be sure, failure isn't something anyone wants and having a sense of failure can leave a person feeling very unhappy about his or her life. But perhaps it's time to re-evaluate the term. And whilst we're at it, take a more realistic approach to achieving our goals.

In order to get anywhere we must proceed on a journey. And before we set off we must plan the route, especially if the journey is a long one. But how do we visualize that route plan? If we think about it, we know that no one sees the plan as a whole, rather we see it as a series of stages: A to B to C etc. Therefore the route to journey's end is not one single step but a series of smaller steps that will eventually get us to where we want to go. Also, because the journey has been broken into a series of smaller journeys, we can stop at any point along the way and rest. When we get to one of our mini end points we can think about how we got there and think again about the end of the journey. It's at these mini end points that we have the time to think and, if necessary, to re-plan the route: perhaps the plan we had marked out wasn't the best way of completing the journey after all, in which case, we can make new plans. Steps To Financial Freedom

By: Sue Bektas

Are you dreaming of being your own boss? I suggest that you stop dreaming and get into action. You never know what happens when you make that decision and go for it. People usually make excuses why they can't do something, they never look at the things they can do. Why do we do this, always look at the negative. I have wondered myself about this, we sabotage our dreams all the time, without thinking what we are actually doing. It takes changing our thoughts and really that's about it, when you change the way you think than a whole new world opens up to you. This is were others fail, they don't like change and they want others to change around them or situations to change. It takes to much effort and they think that others are the problem for were they are right now. If you are really sick and tired of being where you are right now I will give you the steps to financial freedom

How to get started. Look for a company or product that you are passionate about. Then see if there is a demand for the product in the market place. Find out the start up costs and everything you need to start your new business adventure. In most cases you will have a mentor. But if you don't find someone that you know who has been successful and find out how they have done it and pick their brains. The reasons for a mentor, they have been there before you and they know what you are going to go through and be able to keep you on track Don't be mistaken by thinking that you don't need a mentor, I can tell you that you do, they are very valuable and crucial to your success. When you start up your new adventure you have to think long term especially if you have not had a business before. There are going to be new skills that you have to learn and to be able to get out of your comfort zone. How much time will this take? Well that depends on you, how quickly you want to learn and follow instruction and be a good student. The more you read and listen to motivational cd's, the more you will grow mentally and spiritually. You will become an attractive person and you will attract others to you. [Read full article]

Six Quick Steps To Releasing Anger And Feeling Good Again

By: Brenda Shoshanna

Anger is a lethal force that undermines our lives in all kinds of ways. Sometimes it erupts openly and other times it camouflages itself and covertly undermines your life. Some experience anger as strength and power. They feel it is necessary in order to maintain control. Others assume they have the right to express anger. These are some of the lies anger tells us. In fact, when we are angry we are out of control and our ability to respond wisely is diminished.

It's time to look at anger in a new way and understand what it really is. Then we can take new steps that help us of anger, make us feel better, and see clearly what to do.

Step 1: Realize that anger is a choice you make

Anger is not a form of power, strength, or control. It is a toxin, which sometimes provides a temporary high. After this high subsides, the individual is left weaker and more uncertain than before. Not only that, the negative consequences of our outburst have to be handled. Basically anger narrows our focus, creates confusion and limits our ability to find constructive solutions. When anger arises, stop, breathe deeply, and immediately look at the larger perspective. Put the incident in context. For a moment, allow the other person to be "right". Tell yourself you have plenty of time to be right later. Your main goal is to have the anger subside so you can be in control.

Step 2: Pinpoint the 24 forms of anger

Anger camouflages itself and manifests in many ways. Unrecognized anger turns into all kinds of unwanted behavior that become impossible to stop. We have to become aware that this behavior is just another form of anger and pull it out at the root.

Some of the 24 forms of anger are: depression, hypocrisy, self-sabotage, low self-esteem, burnout, passive aggressive behavior, compulsions, perfectionism, gossiping, lying, and various addictions. When you realize that these are being fuelled by anger, you can take appropriate steps to handle them. [Read full article]

The Power Of Positive Thinking And Feeling

By: Kelly Robbins

With the recent media attention given to The Secret and the law of attraction, what I have to share today may be old news to many of you. I questioned whether or not to write an article this week on the power of positive thinking - surely everyone knows the benefits of this, right? I was talking to my mom a few days ago and she had never heard of The Secret (what rock does she live under?) but she knew all about the law of attraction.

That's old news she told me.

So, here I am. Talking with you about the power of positive thinking. And while consciously we may all quickly agree that it's common sense to think positively rather than negatively, to see the cup half full rather than half empty...is that what we do?

We may talk to others positively and see ourselves as a cup half full type of person. My question to you is what is going on inside your head that no one sees? And, according to the law of attraction, how are you feeeeeeling about a topic or subject? Your thoughts lead to how you feel - which is key to attracting what you desire.

For many of us it's easy to say how great our products and services are; it's easy to talk about how we can help people live healthier lives...but when you are alone, are you thinking and feeeeeeeling how good it feels to help people? Are you worrying about paying your bills or perhaps role playing how you would respond to a negative situation over and over again? I know I do it.

Paying attention to your private thoughts is something I've learned you have to focus on. You first need to be aware of what your thoughts are, and then learn how to direct them where you want them to go -- which is to a positive outcome or feeling about something positive rather than a negative. Is Good Enough, Really Good Enough?

By: Cari Vollmer

I used to sit and cry because I couldn't keep up with everything I was supposed to do as a wife, mother and working woman.

I would actually get so frustrated by my inability to "do it all" I would be unable to do anything at all. I would freeze, be unable to move, and then feel like a failure.

As sorry as it sounds, I'm not kidding. I made myself miserable because I thought I should be doing so much more. Not only that, I thought I needed to do everything I did "just right".

Sound familiar?

I expect more women relate to this "perfection paralysis" than men, but I have known a fair number of men that suffer from it too.

Perfection Paralysis, as I define it, is what happens when your personal expectations are so great you get stuck because you can't seem to figure out how to do what it takes to meet your expectations.

For example, there are no answers to be found on how to easily cook a beautiful and delicious Food Network-type meal for 10 while cleaning your house until it shines the day before you leave for a week long business trip.

Nope. I never found the how-to manual for juggling it all easily and beautifully, but I did find something better.

I discovered two words that saved me and they'll save you too. [Read full article]

5 Tips To Stay Motivated

By: Lawrence Ho.

"Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going" - Jim Rohn

Okay, you believe that the positive living approach is definitely the way to go. You're meeting and greeting the world with a whole new positive attitude and your life is starting to show the signs already. People are actually being influenced by your new attitude and are responding in kind. Being positive really works!

Then something happens. You receive some not so pleasant news and you're right back where you started! What happened to your determination? How could this happen? What can be done on a regular basis to keep you motivated?
You need to have a personal motivation plan in place. And motivation is, as the word itself suggests, a motive for action.

Here are a few suggestions to help you get started.

1) Apply Motivation Everyday.

Is it possible to be positive and optimistic all the time? The answer is "No"! It is true that motivation doesn't last but if you work at it, keeping yourself on track, you will have many more up days than down. If we want to stay motivated continuously, we will have to apply motivational "food" to ourselves everyday. As we need daily food for physical energy, we need daily motivational "food" for mental energy. [Read full article]

How To Be A Lucky Person

By : Ralston Heath

Have you ever noticed that some people are just more "lucky" than others? You probably noticed that these "lucky" people have good self esteem. Have you wondered why things just seem to work out better for those people? Those "lucky" people easily manifest a good reality for themselves as they can and do, maintain a positive energy. Here are some tips you may need to consider as a starter guide.

Let us examine man's best friend; the dog. Dogs have great self esteem. They don't care about what might happen they only concern themselves with what is happening. They play, eat, and sleep. To most of us that looks like a good life. Dogs seem to show love easily and without reservation. They are driven by only pleasure and pain. I am not saying we should be like dogs (well maybe). No, we should however take from them a few examples and this will help us to develop good self esteem.

Everything and everyone else around you at one point or another will try to influence you to do something. These things are actions that you may not have taken had you not been influenced. Some things are just plain good for you and most of them also deliver pleasure. Some things bring pain and discomfort, and we should avoid or mitigate these things. Learning this makes you a more lucky person right now. [Read full article]

More than One Way to Skin a Cat: Adventures in Creative Thinking

How many times have you caught yourself saying that there could be no other solution to a problem – and that problem leads to a dead end? How many times have you felt stumped knowing that the problem laying before you is one you cannot solve. No leads. No options. No solutions.

Did it feel like you had exhausted all possible options and yet are still before the mountain – large, unconquerable, and impregnable? When encountering such enormous problems, you may feel like you're hammering against a steel mountain. The pressure of having to solve such a problem may be overwhelming.

But rejoice! There might be some hope yet!

With some creative problem-solving techniques you may be able to look at your problem in a different light. And that light might just be the end of the tunnel that leads to possible solutions.

First of all, in the light of creative problem-solving, you must be open-minded to the fact that there may be more than just one solution to the problem. And, you must be open to the fact that there may be solutions to problems you thought were unsolvable.

Now, with this optimistic mindset, we can try to be a little bit more creative in solving our problems.

Number one; maybe the reason we cannot solve our problems is that we have not really taken a hard look at what the problem is. Here, trying to understanding the problem and having a concrete understanding of its workings is integral solving the problem. If you know how it works, what the problem is, then you have a better foundation towards solving the problem.

Not trying to make the simple statement of what problem is. Try to identify the participating entities and what their relationships with one another are. Take note of the things you stand to gain and stand to lose from the current problem. Now you have a simple statement of what the problem is. [Read full article]

10 Powerful Self Motivation Rules

Self motivation is the only way for you to get out of your current situation that you may not like. You need to have the inner drive to keep your momentum in achieving your goals in life. Without self motivation, nothing else matters. You can hire the most expensive motivator to tell you all the things you already know. But, if you fail to realize that there is no one else except you who can change your life, then you practically throw your money down the drain by going from one seminar to another in the hope that you can change your life. What matters most is your own action. You need to create and develop your own self motivation to bring you the energy and enthusiasm to pursue the dreams of your life.

You need some kind of motivational drive in anything you do. At work, you may need your colleague or boss to motivate you to accomplish your task. At home, you may need your family member to share some motivational thoughts to keep you energetic in your pursuit of your dreams. They can sit with you all day trying to keep you motivated. Again, all these will be meaningless when you yourself fail to acknowledge that you need more lasting drive to really keep your enthusiasm, that is, your self motivation. This is the quality that will separate you from the rest of the people.

Most of you may be thinking that this is going to be a very daunting task as you do not have the slightest idea of how you are going to go about this. You will be surprised as how easy this can really be done. [Read full article]

The Road to Intuition

Have you had that experience when all of a sudden you just had this huge hunch that something is about to happen, and to your surprise, that intuition was eventually translated to reality?

When you feel strongly about something without logical basis to it, that's called intuition. It comes in three impressions: clairvoyance or "the third eye", sensing clearly and feeling through listening.

Clairvoyance is when your eye goes beyond what it can see. This is when you know what is happening somewhere.

Sensing clearly is basically what we refer to as "hunch" or "gut feel." This is the time when you are overwhelmed with a feeling and you can't explain it and all you can say is "I just know."

On the other hand, feeling through listening or clairaudience is being able to "listen" between the lines. Intuition also happens at times when a certain sound, whatever it is - be it a car's honk or a bird's twitting - ushers in an intense feeling.

They say only a number of people are gifted with intuition. Astrologers even insist that people born under the Scorpio or Pisces signs are naturally intuitive it almost borders on E.S.P. But studies have been sprouting left and right that proclaim that anyone can develop intuition.

Why the need to develop intuition, you ask? Why not let your emotional and psychological state as it is? First and foremost, intuition promotes good communication. It makes you more sensitive to the people around you; it often keeps you from hurting those you love because you are intuitive enough to understand them. Intuition also makes you far more creative than ever. Intuition means releasing more creative juices for any means of expression. Lastly, intuition has a healing power. This healing power is not in the physical sense, but in delving deep into your soul to eradicate some negative energy buried in it. [Read full content]

Almost everyone has heard the hit single 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' by Bobby McFerrin. The song has a very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone. Bobby Mcferiin's simple message surely made a lot of people by telling them not to worry.

Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is wonderful, and is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life. Stress is linked to top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke.

One of the better things ever said is - 'The only thing in life that will always remain the same is change', and in our life we have the power to make the necessary changes if we want to. Even if we find ourselves in an unbearable situation we can always find solace in the knowledge that it too would change.

Social networks or relationships are essential to happiness. People are different, accept people for who or what they are, avoid clashes, constant arguments, and let go of all kinds of resentments. If arguments seem unavoidable still try and make an effort to understand the situation and you might just get along with well.

"Who's the Boss?" 10 ways to start taking control (time management, goal setting, record tracking)

At first glance, it would seem that positive thinking and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) have nothing to do with one another. But many of us with ADD develop negative thinking patterns because we become frustrated by our challenges and frequent feelings of being overwhelmed. This negative outlook then makes it even harder for us to manage those challenges and move forward.

Practicing positive thinking allows people with ADD to focus on our strengths and accomplishments, which increases happiness and motivation. This, in turn, allows us to spend more time making progress, and less time feeling down and stuck. The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns:

1. Take Good Care of Yourself
It's much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.

2. Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For
Stresses and challenges don't seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference.

3. Look for the Proof Instead of Making Assumptions
A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking, but our fears are usually not reality. If you have a fear that a friend or family member's bad mood is due to something you did, or that your co-workers are secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ask them. Don't waste time worrying that you did something wrong unless you have proof that there is something to worry about. [Read full article]

Self Motivation : Building The Techniques

Fear and reward are two most commonly used methods to build motivation in someone. But, these methods are temporary. The only lasting thing is self motivation. Motivation actually is the enthusiasm of doing something. It refers to inner feeling, strong desires, and expectation about something. You may sometimes loose the necessary level of the inner drive to get something done. Self motivation is what you need to boost the level of your inner drive to achieve your goals.

Self motivation is a form of self encouragement. You will say to yourself that you have the capacity to do better and eventually get whatever you want in your life. This inner enthusiasm will push you forward until you achieve your set goals. You may not even be aware of any reward in the beginning but you keep working on it. You work on it because your inner strength says that you can attain your goals. This is your will power - the driving force behind your self motivation. Self motivation is a combination of will power, goals and ability to continue attaining the highest level of your success.

You need self motivation to accomplish tasks you have now. Along the way, you may be facing with situations that are discouraging and can bring down your motivational level. You need to keep yourself really focused on your objectives to maintain the level of your self motivation. Here are techniques you can adopt to start acquiring higher motivational level and achieve greater success. [Read full article]

Motivation, The Heart Of Self Improvement

Pain may sometimes be the reason why people change. Getting flunked grades make us realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our inability to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives us the ‘push’ to speak up and fight for ourselves to save our face from the next embarrassments. It may be a bitter experience, a friend’s tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help us get up and get just the right amount of motivation we need in order to improve ourselves.

With the countless negativities the world brings about, how do we keep motivated? Try on the tips I prepared from A to Z…

A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

B - Believe in your self, and in what you can do.

C – Consider things on every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun from both sides.

D – Don’t give up and don’t give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than thrice before he came up with his invention and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation as your steering wheel. [Read full article]

"What Really Makes You Tick?" 10 questions you should ask to yourself: a preparation to self-improvement

Be all you can be, but it's not always in the Army. I often see myself as somewhat contented with my life the way things are, but of course it's hard to think of anything else when there are real issues to be discussed.

Still I aspire for something deeper and more meaningful.

So we're all pelted with problems. Honestly it shouldn't even bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be. Aspirations as kids should continue to live within us, even though it would be short-lived or as long as we could hold on to the dream. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks… or can they?

1. What do I really want?
The question of the ages. So many things you want to do with your life and so little time to even go about during the day.

Find something that you are good at can help realize that small step towards improvement. Diligence is the key to know that it is worth it.

2. Should I really change?
Today's generation has taken another level of redefining 'self', or at least that's what the kids are saying. Having an army of teenage nieces and nephews has taught me that there are far worse things that they could have had than acne or maybe even promiscuity. So how does that fit into your lifestyle?

If history has taught us one thing, it's the life that we have gone through. Try to see if partying Seventies style wouldn't appeal to the younger generation, but dancing is part of partying. Watch them applaud after showing them how to really dance than break their bones in break-dancing. [Read full article]

Build Your Self Esteem, A Starter Guide To Self Improvement

So how do you stay calm, composed and maintain self esteem in a tough environment? Here are some tips you may to consider as a starter guide to self improvement.

Imagine yourself as a Dart Board. Everything and everyone else around you may become Dart Pins, at one point or another. These dart pins will destroy your self esteem and pull you down in ways you won’t even remember. Don’t let them destroy you, or get the best of you. So which dart pins should you avoid?

Dart Pin #1 : Negative Work Environment
Beware of “dog eat dog” theory where everyone else is fighting just to get ahead. This is where non-appreciative people usually thrive. No one will appreciate your contributions even if you miss lunch and dinner, and stay up late. Most of the time you get to work too much without getting help from people concerned. Stay out of this, it will ruin your self esteem. Competition is at stake anywhere. Be healthy enough to compete, but in a healthy competition that is.

Dart Pin #2: Other People’s Behavior
Bulldozers, brown nosers, gossipmongers, whiners, backstabbers, snipers, people walking wounded, controllers, naggers, complainers, exploders, patronizers… all these kinds of people will pose bad vibes for your self esteem, as well as to your self improvement scheme. [Read full article]

What Innovation Can Do To Your Life

It's a talent that everyone has, yet they think they don't. The power of innovation. If you've ever marveled at somebody's creative prowess, guess what, you can create and innovate too. It just takes time. Everyone is born creative. The box of crayons in kindergarten were not limited to those who possessed potential; because the truth is, everybody has potential.

You know how long it took to learn to ride a bike or drive or to never commit the same mistake again? It's the same with innovation. It takes a bit of practice and a lot of time before this mind function comes easily when called. This article will teach you a few tips on how to bring innovation into your life.

Don't listen to what other people say. Follow the beat of your own drum. Allowing for the input of other people will only bring cacophony to the music you are trying to make. If you have an original idea, don't waste your time and effort trying to make people understand. They won't. And the help you will probably get comes in the form of negative feedback. If all those geniuses listened to their peers, we would probably still be living in the middle ages.

Spend time on it. I cannot stress that enough, although, please do not mistake this tip to tell you to quit your day job entirely. Do not. This involves some tricky time management but with a little discipline you'll be able to squeeze both in.[Read full article]

Does A Law On Human Attraction Exist?

“Opposites attract” is a law of attraction, at least where electromagnetism is concerned. But are there laws about attraction between two people? “In a world that is full of strangers” as a line in a famous song of the 1980’s goes, is there a clear set of rules that allows two people to fall for each other?

Is attraction a matter of chemistry?

Maybe. According to scientists, the attraction between animals of the opposite sex is all about chemicals called pheromones. The effect of pheromones in behavior of insects is the most studied to date. It has been observed, at least in some experiments, that pheromones are responsible for communication among same species and colony of ants. The horrible odor released by skunks to ward off enemies is said to be a kind of pheromone. Some species of apes rub pheromone-containing urine on the feet of potential mates to attract them. Some scientists believe that animals (usually the females) such as insects and mammals send out these chemical signals to tell the male of their species that their genes are different from theirs. This gene diversity is important in producing offspring with better chances of survival. The perfume industry has capitalized on pheromones as a means to increase one’s sexual attractiveness to the opposite sex. Animals such as the whale and the musk deer were hunted down for these chemicals. [Read full article]

Impossible Is Just A Word

Everyone, at some point of his or her life, has dreamed of being somebody special, somebody big. Who hasn't fantasized about being the one who hits the game-winning homer? Who hasn't dreamed of being the homecoming queen? And how many times have we dreamed of being rich, or successful, or happy with our relationships?

Often, we dream big dreams and have great aspirations. Unfortunately, our dreams remain just that – dreams. And our aspirations easily collect dust in our attic.

This is a sad turn of events in our life. Instead of experiencing exciting adventures in self actualization, we get caught up in the humdrum of living from day-to-day just barely existing.

But you know what? Life could be so much better, if only we learned to aim higher.

The most common problem to setting goals is the word impossible. Most people get hung up thinking I can't do this. It's too hard. It's too impossible. No one can do this.

However, if everyone thought that, there would be no inventions, no innovations, and no breakthroughs in human accomplishment.

Remember that scientists were baffled when they took a look at the humble bumblebee. Theoretically, they said, it was impossible for the bumblebee to fly. Unfortunately for the bumble, bee no one has told it so. So fly it does.

On the other hand, some people suffer from dreaming totally outrageous dreams and not acting on them. The result? Broken dreams, and tattered aspirations.

If you limit yourself with self-doubt, and self-limiting assumptions, you will never be able to break past what you deem impossible. If you reach too far out into the sky without working towards your goal, you will find yourself clinging on to the impossible dream.

Try this exercise. Take a piece of paper and write down some goals in your life. Under one header, list down things ‘you know you can do’. Under another header, write the things ‘you might be able to do.’ And under one more, list the things that that are ‘impossible for you to do.’ [Read full article]

Life is about Options and the Decisions we make

Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?

There are no guarantees.

You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. There are no guarantees. This is one of the most important things you need to realize about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness. Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always bad, especially if you are highly qualified and competent. There are too many possible outcomes, which you really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations.

Wrong decisions are always at hindsight. [Read full article]

Enjoy Your Life : Change Your Point Of View

"Two men look out through the same bars: One sees the mud, and one sees the stars."- Frederick Langbridge, A Cluster of Quiet Thoughts

If you’ve placed second in a writing contest, will you jump for joy and push for better results the next time or will you be discouraged and find an excuse not to join again?

In life, you are always filled with choices. You may opt to have a pessimist’s view and live a self-defeated life or you may decide to take the optimist’s route and take a challenging and fulfilling life.

So why nurture an optimist’s point of view? And why now?

Well, optimism has been linked to positive mood and good morale; to academic, athletic, military, occupational and political success; to popularity; to good health and even to long life and freedom from trauma.

On the other hand, the rates of depression and pessimism have never been higher. It affects middle-aged adults the same way it hits younger people. The mean age of onset has gone from 30 to 15. It is no longer a middle-aged housewife’s disorder but also a teen-ager’s disorder’ as well.

Here’s how optimists are in action and researches that back up why it really pays to be an optimist: [Read full article]

Street Smart Child

You may think that what you read in newspapers about bad things happening to children can never happen to you or your family member. I used to think about it that way too until a week ago. A fourteen-year-old girl went out with her friends and until this date she has not come home yet without any news. She is a daughter of one family in my neighborhood.

Some people are very skeptical about it, saying that she may have run away with somebody. The fact that she’s already fourteen and, being a teenager, who may be having troubles with the parents at home, make these skeptical people to stick to their thought. Well, we might never know what really happened. What if she has been kidnapped for ransom? You figure it out.

My wife always emphasizes on teaching our kids to be wise and street smart all the time. And she realizes that it is very important to teach our kids from their early age, especially when they start to go to school. I used to not pay much attention to her but now I too understand the importance of being street smart for children. Here’s what she tells me almost regularly: [Read full article]

Family Holiday

I just came back from a short holiday with my family. I thought that was a pleasant one especially after going through busy schedules during weekdays. Everyone needs holiday once a while. This will help you forget all the problems you are having, especially job related problems, at least for couple of days. Of course one needs to work hard to be able to improve one's lifestyle. But, don't deprive yourself of something you are entitled for. So, take a break and have fun. Life is full of fun things. You've got to taste some of the fun in life. Don't stress yourself.

With that in mind, I think it's a good idea to share some tips with you on having good family holidays the next time you have one.

Family Holidays: Tips for Peace and Harmony

What do you like to do on family holidays? Go to the beach or spend a week in the country? Maybe you like camping or visiting relatives. Whatever you enjoy, family holidays are a chance for everyone in the family to get reacquainted and spend quality time together. It's a chance for parents to really talk with their teens and find out what's going on in their lives. It's important to keep the communication lines open, and a family holiday is a good time to do that. Having a good relationship with their parents is one of the most important factors in keeping teens out of trouble.Studies have shown that when families take holidays together, they are more likely to eat together and are less likely to argue. They do not watch as much television because they are involved in doing things together. Kids even report that their parents seem to act differently while on holiday. [Read full article]
